Dr. Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge is the founder of Quality & Equality Ltd and the author of many articles on organizational development. She speaks, writes and delivers OD training programs in the UK and was voted one of the 25 most influential thinkers in HR by HR Magazine in 2008. ...this book is currently the best single volume that I've found on OD practice and it's relationship with HR.

From my perspective of two decades of practicing OD and HR in global organizations and teaching both subjects at the graduate level, I can say without hesitation that this book is currently the best single volume that I've found on OD practice and it's relationship with HR. For sure, one can find everything that the authors share in other books, but it would require gleaning through dozens of the classics on the topic. Cheung-Judge and Holbeche have done this for you. Seasoned OD practitioners will recognize right away that not only do the authors write from a deep experience base, they also integrate sound theory and research that are the foundation to good practice. One thing especially worthy of praise is the importance the authors place on "self as instrument" in OD practice. I often encounter HR professionals who think they understand OD, and while they are sincere, they really don't know what they don't know when it comes to OD. I think that HR professionals who read this book will come away with a better appreciation for the unique contribution OD professionals bring to organizations and how OD fits with and complements HR's role as strategic business partner. Early and mid-career OD professionals will find insights that will help their practice. Veterans will simply enjoy it. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, only because some of the case examples are weak, but this is a minor flaw that in no way diminishes the usefulness of this work. I would use it as a core text for an OD course.
