It's fun to see so many creative and elegant ideas made real with so many materials, and it's easy to forget how many tangible lessons your imagination is quietly absorbing while your eyes enjoy the dance. Useless! No details, and no detail.

This book has 999 problems and a detail ain't one.
What you are getting is a collection of 1000 small, wide-angle stock photos of buildings with very little mention of the details involved. A detail is the actual, measured, *detailed* drawing of a building component at close to full scale... showing the physical connection, the joint, the formal treatment, or jeez even just a drawing technique... That is what a "detail" is in architecture, and they teach and reveal very specific things about the building technique and the architect's process. This book has a *few* sketches of those.
THIS is not that book. This is a photograph of Libeskind's whatever-museum with a caption "like many buildings of this contemporary era, this one is clad in titanium panels" ... with NO mention of the connection, the lapping, the structure, ANYTHING that could teach you anything. I know there are 1000 of these in a smallish book and it has to be succinct, but it's not a detail. It's a facade.
Save your money and type "architecture" into google image search. Humbug!
